Victory!
Space Station needed to have it’s battery pack re-flowed. Instead of re-flowing it in place, I chose to remove the battery back, and put a 16″ extension and seat the battery pack on the backbox wall. There are three big benefits to getting the battery pack off the main board:
1) any future battery corrosion will cause zero damage
2) replacing batteries is much easier, now you won’t be flexing the boards to get batteries in and out and weakening the solder joints
3) having the batteries solidly installed means saving admin features such as having several extra balls on Space Station: (1,900,000 AND 3,800,000) as well as the ability to remember HIGH scores.
